Various Live art & performance works 1989 - 2011
erected at Cillíní in County Clare
The shelters (refuge & sanctuary) are a temporary artwork series
commissioned by Clare County Council Arts Office in 2005 as part of
“Ground Up”, a project supporting temporary art in rural County Clare.
There are three erected at Cillíní around the county,
to commemorate the unconsecrated burial grounds of unbaptised babies or the “children of strangers”. The shelters are at Crusheen Tobar Bríd,
Tuamgraney Famine Memorial Park and Aughinish Island.
The shelters are symbolic spaces to remember and honour
the lives of little beings who were so ephemeral in this world.
With special thanks to Pat & Brid O’Brien, Ger Madden and the committee of
Tuamgraney Famine Memorial Park, Rose Glynn, Michael Keane & Sally Bartlett.
